Dreamwave Hotel: A review
Four Lanes (next to Xentro Mall)
Santiago City, Isabela , Philippines
Very conveniently located, Dreamwave Hotel is situated adjacent to Xentro Mall which places you right in the center of Santiago City. The ground floor lobby has a bright entree with its glitz and sparkling ornaments. This snobbish first impression of the hotel is contrasted by friendly and polite staff.
A modern elevator is available that will take you to the third floor of the bldg where all the rooms are located. A spacious receiving area is a pleasant welcome as you step out of the elevator. It is less flashy than the lobby yet inviting. This is perhaps intended as a receiving area for events since the function hall is right next to it. However, during quiet days, the place looks deserted. The third floor looks like a maze with white walls and shiny floor tiles. The uncarpeted hallway makes the rooms susceptible to the noise.
That said the room decor is top, if not the best, compared to the other hotel rooms in the city. The warm dark red wood furniture makes the room cozy and sophisticated. A big mirror placed on top of the desk makes the room look bigger. A flat screen television on top of the cabinet is available with numerous channels to choose from. In the absence of windows or balcony in the room the silent split type air conditioner regulates the temperature inside. The comfy bed with the crisp white linen guarantees a good night sleep. The shower room is of a good size. Warm water with good pressure is readily available. Though some maintenance is suggested for some toilet fixtures and accessories (towels).
A Filipino or a continental breakfast is included in the price. Preferably they want your choice of breakfast during check in or a day before since they order from outside. The food is delivered to the room at the requested time. The breakfast is served in plastic plates and utensils which are not on par with the hotel’s image. In addition, eating inside the room is not convenient if the room has only one chair and there’s two guests staying. Outside, near the receiving area though are tables and chairs where it is more convenient to eat.
Note that wifi is only available at the ground lobby of the hotel. Thus for business travelers it maybe something to consider. Working in their lobby is not ideal at all. However, pocket wifi is cheaply available in the mall next to it, which is a good solution to the problem. There are several access points from the hotel to the mall which is conducive yet disturbing at the same time. Guards are posted at the ground entrance which seems pointless because the staircase is freely accessible from the mall. The guards seem to be placed for a false sense of security.
Considering the rates, the room makes an overwhelming impression. They are as good and often better than anything you would find in Santiago City. It’s like a 4-star hotel for a budget price.
